Do Something Foundation Offers the Do Something Award to Outstanding Young Leaders Who are Working to Improve Their Communities

Dedicated to inspiring youth about the possibility of change, the Do Something Foundation was founded in 1993. The Foundation provides training to increase the leadership capacity of youth and provides funds necessary to mobilize young leaders to strengthen their communities.

This annual award honors students who are currently working to make a difference in their community through the Do Something Foundation. Up to five winners will receive a $5,000 grant to continue their community work. The award will be presented at a gala event in New York City on October 11, 2001.

Students in grades K-12 are eligible to apply as long as they are currently participating in a Do Something team/class at their school. Student participants in the Kindness & Justice Challenge are also eligible. The award honors individual or group efforts. Applications are due by May 9, 2001. In order to remain eligible, finalists must be available for a telephone interview with a Do Something representative on June 13-27, 2001.

For more information or a copy of an application, visit the Do Something Foundation Web site for teens at http://www.dosomething.org or Do Something's educator Web site at http://coach.dosomething.org.
